Accord Ex 2.0 i-vtec
Hi Guys

I'm currently driving a 61 plate Octavia VRS petrol which is a great car but i'm considering selling up and paying off some debts and therefore purchasing a cheaper car. The cheaper car still needs to look very respectable, be reliable and economical over a commute of 4 miles each way plus site surveys during the week within Norfolk.

Before the VRS i was and still am a big Jap fan and have owned numerous Honda's among others in the past.

I have stumbled on an 06 Facelift 2.0 i-vtec EX with 72k and fsh. It's up for sale at £3599 at a local Honda specialist.

Now this seems quite pricey but i must say the car looks absolutely mint in the pictures below and implies it's been very well looked after. The only drawback is that it doesn't have sat nav and I am not a huge fan of the small wheels but that could be sorted and is me just being picky.

So my question is, do you think it's worth a look at this price and is the 2.0 engine any good? I know it will not feel like the VRS but will it feel reasonably powerful?

Thanks in advance, Mark.

Looks lovely in red, but definitely pricey. £3k tops in my opinion

will it feel reasonably powerful?

No.

I've come from a 280 BHP stage 2 Octavia vRS to a 2.0 i-VTEC Accord. It feels reasonably powerful still; despite the power difference.

Thanks for the initial replies.

I would be in agreement with 3k tops really, It feels like a big step backwards going from a 61 plate to an 06 but if the car is as good as it looks in the pics then it doesn't look too much of a step back.

get a 2.4 type s...not much more and wont cost much more to run,you get 6 speed box to.its a great engine with a few mods.and fun.my 2.4 cl9 ran rings around my 2008 skoda vrs.ihad the vrs 12 weeks before i sold it back to the garage i got it from.vrs was nothing but trouble.and only had done 31k miles.and the engine was boring

Don't get me wrong i'd much rather have a 2.4 but can't seem to find a later model with reasonable mileage and in good condition.

I also had a 2008 VRS and that wasn't as good but mine is the facelift one has the tsi engine which is much better!

I wouldn't be hugely worried about the engine size. Both the 2.0 and 2.4 are more than adequate to get a move on. If you want full on performance then the Euro R is the way to go in the Accord. I'd buy on condition and service history; then mileage and then engine preference. that's just my opinion though.

ignore millage if its got good history and had good service honda engines are very good if looked after they can take a lot but when there neglitced they can cause issue

I have a Nighthawk Black 2007 Accord 2.0 Type S only 69k for sale If you are interested.

I wouldnt worry so much about mileage...

I just picked up a 2007 type s 2.0 on 172k and it runs smooth and quietly as new
