    Somebody Here ?

True, although it’s had many many hours spent on it, paint, mechanical and electrical with quite a few parts. It’s been a fun rescue project. Just need to get to the bottom of this weird cruise control not working in 6th gear issue now.

    Somebody Here ?

It had the classic vibration on acceleration, which is nearly always the driveshafts so we just did both for good measure. Thankfully it solved it. The car is actually pretty incredible, it’s become my daily and I’m thoroughly enjoying it.

Steering wheel + exclamation mark display

I’ve personally never heard of that happening and not seen any rack failures, but have seen failed modules like I said previously. Worth asking for a copy of the actual codes they retrieved.

Steering wheel + exclamation mark display

How have they diagnosed it to be the rack and not just the module?

Sounds ok to me I would say.

Engine shutdown rattle after EGR/DPF delete – normal behaviour?

Sounds like your flywheel is a little out of balance, pretty common and nothing to really worry about until it develops into a knocking at idle.

Anyone local to West Yorkshire willing to help?

Thanks for the replies guys, this was always going to be a bit of a rescue project and most of the issues were small or just a bit tricky so I’ve been happy to spend the time fixing them, especially as it’s a facelift tourer Type S, kind of the holy grail in the 8th gen series. I believe the...

Anyone local to West Yorkshire willing to help?

Yep, and I’ve also replaced the gearbox speed sensor with a brand new item (went through 2 of them before realising why the little washer/spacer was so important) #facepalm But fundamentally the VSS is working perfectly, I’ve replaced both clutch pedal switches (A and B) and triple checked...

    DPF clean

Each to their own mate. I would agree, sounds like a petrol or pre dpf diesel car would be better for you.

Steering wheel + exclamation mark display

Could be a faulty EPS module, I’ve seen them fail on the 8th gen Accord. Needs to be plugged in to retrieve the diagnostic error codes.

Anyone local to West Yorkshire willing to help?

Sorry been away on holidays (Malta highly recommended). I actually got someone to let me try their wheels the day after my original post.. sadly it didn’t solve my issue but at least helped me eliminate one possible cause. Thanks for the offers of help guys.

    DPF clean

If you want to keep the dpf present then you must replace with a brand new genuine Honda dealer item, new differential pressure sensor and vacuum pipes as a minimum. I would also recommend replacing the exhaust gas temp sensor at the same time, as both sensors are used to measure and activate...

    Changing headlight bulbs

I can confirm this method.. does not work. Or it might work, but didn’t for me. The plastic caps for the headlight housing were seized solid and the only way to get good purchase on them to spin them off meant removing the headlights.. which meant removing the bumper lol This is on a 2012 Type...

    Changing headlight bulbs

I’m actually doing them tomorrow on our project Type S. I’ve got some new D2S bulbs to fit (I should have just done it when I had the headlights out while it was being painted a few weeks ago but hey ho). I’ll give this method a shot..

    Changing headlight bulbs

Very helpful, especially for those that don’t want the hassle of removing the bumper.

    Timing chain.

I wouldn’t bother with the expense and try and live with it as long as you can.. maybe try some additives to help quieten it down.

Anyone local to West Yorkshire willing to help?

Hi folks, I’m trying to eliminate an issue on our project car (8th gen Accord Type S) where the cruise control doesn’t work in 6th gear. After quite a bit of fault finding and data logging (including a replacement clutch switch) I have a feeling it might be down to incorrect tyre sizes. The car...
