Car
Honda Accord type S
Hi I'm Al a new user.
I have a 56 plate Type S 2.0 petrol model that I've had for 9 years and its been brilliant other than the usual parasitic drain from the bluetooth module... until a few weeks ago.
Went to go out in the car and the engine management light came on, since then the car throttle isn't responding, I had it plugged in and the code indicated that the ECU isn't receiving a signal from the throttle positioning sensor (TPS).
Since then I have worked through replacing parts to try and rectify the problem with no success. I have replaced the TPS ***embly (its the facelift model with drive by wire setup), I've replaced the throttle body, the module in the passenger footwell. Next on my list are the relays in the passenger footwell, then the ECU.
I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar issue? If anyone has then can you please share your experience?

Does anyone know of a Honda specialist in the North West?

Cheers, Al

Before throwing all these parts at it, probably wise to let an auto electrician check it over or if you’re fairly competent, run some basic continuity tests. It’s quite possibly a wiring break somewhere.

What’s the actual error code?

Yes this is now what I'm looking at, I was booked in last month to get it looked at but unfortunately due to health reasons i couldn't make appointment as I was in hospital. I cant find the code it threw out as it was on my old phone, it's not been a good couple of months.
The mechanic said the ECU isn't talking to the TPS, based upon my history I think the code is P2138 which indicates the TPS. I have replaced this today with one from a breakers but its still the same.

The revs bounce on start up and sit high, about 1.4-1.6, when put into gear the throttle doesn't respond after pulling away, so it will pull away but it feels like the gate in the throttle isn't open opening.

Cheers

You say you replaced the TPS, do you mean the Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor?

Yes, its the facelift model which is drive by wire, I've replaced the module in the passenger foot well, and the sensor that connects to the throttle cable under the bonnet on the passenger side

UPDATE

So after lots of brain wracking.... I fitted a dash cam about 3 months ago using the hardwire kit, I had been using the dash cam without issue just leaving it in situ without disconnecting the cam from its powered bracket when parked and locked and had no issues. About 2½ months ago I came to use the car and the battery had died as it had been sat for a while, I charged it up and after it was charged I moved the car to clean the drive and the dash cam pinged on so I disconnected the camera from its powered bracket.
When I went to move the car back onto the drive I had an engine management light and limp mode.
Turns out that I had wired it into the wrong fuse and by disconnecting the camera from the powered bracket had broken the circuit therefore causing the issue.
having removed the hardwire kit and replaced the fuse as was it has fixed the issue.
Yep the a stupid mistake on my part that's cost me a lot of money.

Thank you for the fuse list as numbers 1 & 2 are labelled as (manual) in the internal fuse guide.
I will post a picture of the car at some point as its modded and I usually do loads of research before modding.
Cheers for the support

Glad it’s fixed

AliTfireblade Well done

It's good to see someone come back with the solution. It's really frustrating when people ask questions and just disappear !

Yeah I get that, I made a mistake but figured it out, it's quite an easy mistake to make so if this helps someone else then great
