Accord 2.2 cdti
Hello everyone this is my first post and I wish it was under better circumstances. I have a 2004 Accord 2.2cdti which had an engine and turbo change about 12 months ago after the oil pump chain snapped. Since having this work carried out if the engine reached 2200 rom in any gear and in neutral the car develops an awful misfire. In the lower gears if you push pass the 2200 threshold its fine again until it reaches about 3200rpm then the problem manifests itself again. The real problem is there is no engine management light during this. It has had three new fuel filters, injectors have been out and tested one was replaced, a new fuel pump, new MAF EGR has been off cleaned then blanked. Despite all this work the problem has not improved or deteriorated and the problem is the same when hot or cold. Please can someone help its driving me mad!

Blimey!!! Welcome to the forum. There is a lot of stuff on here, the diesel guys are great and really know their stuff. I'm sure someone will be along shortly to advise you. My question would be, is the fuel filter a genuine OEM one? The iCDTI is very fussy about fuel filters and MUST have an OEM filter.

Has it been remapped? Blanking the EGR will generate a DTC on the standard map, which is why I'm asking!

As Steve says, OEM (Bosch, part number ending in 442) fuel filter only on these engines. Otherwise, this problem is a new one on me... do you have access to a Honda Diagnostic System (HDS)?

Welcome to TA.

Thanks guys I have ordered a new fuel filter as it seems the easiest and cheapest way to go. I don't have access to the HDS but the car has been into Honda Boston and they said it 'could' be fuel pump or new set of injectors, obviously Im not really inclined to change these at huge expense on what seemed liked a hunch! The new filter should be here on Wed so fingers crossed.

Impossible to blank the egr without remapping the ecu mate. A hesitation or misfire at that engine speed is normally the egr sticking.

When the injector was replaced was it calibrated to the ecu?

Has it had a new fuel pump or not? Post #1 says it has, while post #5 suggests that you weren't inclined to change it.

Please do make sure that it is that Bosch fuel filter!!!

Or maybe take up Freddofrog's kind offer of sticking his HDS on it. It'd be great if he can get more experience of using it on diesel Accords before he sets up my likely new injectors! :D

He'll probably want paying in class A drugs and prostitutes mind... :p

I think he's referring to calibrating the injectors mate.

Hi sorry for the delay, i have changed the fuel filter and there's no change. The garage said they had by-passed the EGR I ***umed they could do it it physically without remapping the ECU.
It has had new fuel pump (from a scrappy) Jon, in post 5 I was referring to the Honda garage suggesting that either the new pump and/or injector was faulty and need replacing.
I thought the injector had been reprogrammed by the garage that fitted it but it transpired that hadn't been done but Honda picked that up and resolved it. Despite all this work the fault has never changed neither improved or got worse.

Possibly it's the IMRC sticking then, but I'm guessing.

It would be best to take it to someone with an HDS. Hopefully this will cut down the guesswork.

Where are you located? I offer a diagnostic service

It's a bit of a trek to Halifax but worth considering if you are serious about solving the issue.

Based on what you've described sounds like a sticking egr and possibly an imrc. Both of these can be switched off and egr blanked at the same time.

Boston is about 20 miles from me Fahad. Maybe you could arrange to pop in to him on the way past one day. I could be interested in having my van done of you do at some point...... Lol

Sure drop me a line mate
