What's new

"My '87 Accord GSi"

Yup - you cant fault it for having 7 year old wipers and a bulb go wrong :) The corrosion isn't anything major, just a dodgy rear sill. I'm amazed, I was definite that the brakes and suspension would be fubar

So, just got to wait until Christmas is over and I can get this car on the road :D roll on the January meet!!

So, just got to wait until Christmas is over and I can get this car on the road :D roll on the January meet!!

This could be a possibility actually. I think there are a few of us in the Sussex area. I'd be up for get together, perhaps one Sunday. I'll bring the Boy, he's becoming quite the 3 year old Honda fan.

Yeah our numbers are definitely growing down South :) I definitely want to start getting to meets this year - last year I told myself I'd go to at least one but didn't, so got to make it happen now  haha yeah get him into cars whilst he's young! I've said to my mrs that once we have a child I'm teaching them how to work on our cars as soon as physically possible :p

So after my car wouldn't start at lunch time I found that my battery terminal had come off as my battery was loose. In light of this, I fitted a larger battery this eve so should stop things rolling around in there :) looks a bit more normal now as well

I have a nicely charged spare battery now too, ideal for jumping cars - something I have to do far too often now I don't use half of them :(

Also, I realise most of my pictures have probably just gone dead - the result of me finally deciding to organise my Photobucket

I can't get over how big the lump looks in your bay. It looks proper bad boy B)

I think it's because it leans forward in the bay, catches the eye more :) I'm going to give the engine bay a clean when I get a chance, maybe this weekend seeing as I've started my new job and now have my spare time back.

Decided to swap my speakers from the Golf over today. Straight away I thought I had found the reason for the poor audio quality in my car

Out with the the old speaker and housing

And in with the new

I think I could really do with some speaker rings, as this car has those annoying baskets behind the speakers like the Prelude has. The stock speakers were 12cm rather than the 16cm I had ***umed, I think this is because I have parcel shelf speakers in the back. I'm guessing Accords that weren't fitted with 16's on the shelf had them up front instead. At any rate I've temporarily put the 13cm speakers from my Golf in.

However.... I still have a bit of a niggle :( the left speaker crackles slightly every now and again. Now I'm 100% sure I connected the terminals correctly - could anything else cause this? The speakers were a tad wet from condensation, could this cause crackling?

Recheck your connections and wait till you know the speakers are totally dry before the next test. What's driving these? What state is the stereo in in general? Have you had it out to check the connections at the back?

They're driven by the original tape deck in the car, 80's style

Might try and brave removing the stereo, it's a horrible task though as you have to remove 2 screws from behind it before it comes free :(

MY only worry is given the age of the car, there are so many variables on what could cause an occasionally crackling speaker that it might be simpler to pull out the old stereo, bang in a new one knowing all the cabling at the back is spot on and then replace all the speakers too. If you've still got issues, you know it's the wiring and ***uming the connections are clean, it will likely be fracturing of cabling in the flexible channels in the doors. I'm' sure you know what I mean, but I don't know what the proper word is for the rubber flexible things that runs all the door's electronics in.

Yeah, might have to put a known good unit in. My Mutant one is out the 'lude and on the kitchen counter, and I have a spare adapter in my man draw  just don't fancy getting the stock head unit out the Accord!

Tsurikawa!!

That is all :)

Looking good man.

Went to visit my Dad today and lend him a hand wiring up a tow bar. Whilst my car was on the drive I thought it would make for a cool pic :)

We also took his Eunos roadster out for a spin round the local back roads with the roof down, I've got to say those little Mazda's are wicked fun to drive. My girlfriend took it out for a spin too, she absolutely loved it. She's now asking me to get us one

Looking good Josh and a lovely scenic photo mate

Whilst driving back from the shops this evening I thought I'd stop off at the beach and make the most of the moody weather. Just so happened to coincide with the ferry coming in to the port too, happy days.

Man, these cars age well. She's a beauty Josh, she really is.

Cheers Steve :) I've not done much with it since i got it, but hopefully once I've moved I'll start doing a bit of work tuning her up subtly - exhaust and intake are the top priorities currently. Ive disconnected the resonator and the car came fitted with a 4-2-1 manifold, no cat and a straight through mid section silencer as standard so it already sounds nice and loud, but I know it can sound better with a decent back box and intake!

Well, finally got the keys to my new house yesterday. Here's the Accord just after I arrived :)

The garage is lined with gypsum board currently, so soon I will be stripping the end with the door, and making myself a workshop :D dropped the Scirocco over earlier, still got the Golf, the Prelude and the other Accord to move over!

Hopefully my projects should get back on track again soon, after being put on hold for nearly a year through lack of space! Once the garage is un-converted then the first priority is to rebuild the engine in the Scirocco, should be fun

Hmmmmmm

Just a small update, as I've been washing cars today

:)

I'll be getting a rotary polisher soon, after some practices on the Scirocco I may build up enough courage to have a go at my Accord

New (old) wheels!! Bought these ages ago but have only just had a friend collect them for me. So spent the evening over at my mate's over in Battle getting these on! Just got home after a nice country drive :) at any rate here are some piccy's:

I'm in love  just need to get her lowered and she'll be spot on I think!

Oh, Wow Josh, this is really coming on a treat. I should pop over some time soon, you can take me for a spin in it.

Cheers Steve :) Feels like I've only got a couple of bits to do and I'll be happy with her.

You're more than welcome to come for a spin sometime mate, I'm only down the road! The C7 is particularly good fun in the Accord!

Looking great Josh and like those wheels fella

Cheers Brett, I thought they suited the age and style of the car :) I love the contrast in colours too, I think the dark grey and chrome polished lip compliment red well, even if I do say so myself :p

They're very lightweight too which is a result! They were made by Enkei for Honda, and they're made out of aluminium. The difference in weight is surprising! Turns out my stock alloys were Enkei's too by the way! I have Enkei's coming out my **** now  will get those on my new Prelude this week :)

Looks great mate, Really does. :)

Cheers guys :)

Some more pictures as I found my good camera, and I'm obsessed with my car still
