Hi all, recently invested my time and money into a 6th gen accord, 1.8 Type S, dark blue, 100k miles, absolutley immaculate. anything to look out for repair wise and any modifcation ideas as i know the market in the UK for the 6th gen is pretty scarce?

Hi welcome to TA,

Timing belt at 70k/7years, you'll probably need to look at droplinks, oxygen sensors, calipers sticking, maybe corrosion to brake/fuel lines, corrosion to power steering cooler (bent pipe in front of radiator), valve clearances, blocked EGR ports, dirty Idle Air Control Valve.

Don't let that list put you off, half of it is simply good (practice) maintenance, the rest is typical wear n tear for a 10yr old car and may have already been attended too.

Ahh thats more than i expected but most of it has been done and checked anyway, all the pipes in the bay are nice and clean and so it the engine itself, had cambelt done at 70k at a honda dealer, a basic service from myself this weekend and then i will probably be investing in gadgets and parts for it :p (new calipers recently fitted also) I have a full service history from 2002 with all past MOT certificates and its been really well looked after!

I use Photobucket as a hosting site. So just create an account, quite a simple process from memory then upload your images there.

Then you need to grab the direct link code (URL) from Photobucket, and use the Insert Image icon on the reply window and simply Paste in the URL.

Welcome along fella

Welcome to T.A :)

You're in the right place now! Welcome.

I noticed you also asked about modifications, well I'm not the right lad to really answer that question but if I was buying another 6th Gen the first items I'd change straight away are the Shocks & Springs, not saying that to slam the car just decent shocks alone will transform the way it drives - as with most cars. Also, I'd fit S/s brake hoses alround. And if want hear the engine perform fit one of those cold air induction kits. Also, a small item this but if your car has a single tone horn with are useless replace with a duel tone set up - very cheap & easy to do.

I don't know how long you intend to keep the car but if for a couple of years you should consider fitting some sound deadening (like Dynamat), I reckon it would make a big difference and if you intend to upgrade the stereo system, even more of a reason to fit it.

thank you all for being so welcoming (no idea how to reply to all of you at once. Thanks for the suggestions John, I already have a stainless steel tubed induction kit on the way from a japanese specialist (with cone filter of course). I was intending to drop the car slightly by buying springs and shocks all round in a bundle, but obviously not to the floor because that would be impractical, i've already performed subtle mods such as stick on 3D number plates, yellows fogs, white type-r wheels, de-badge and flat wiper blades. I wont be going too over the top thats for sure but it definatly needs dropping slightly!

I'm also after a full set of wind deflectors for all 4 windows, can find the front 2 on ebay but nowhere else, also can anyone recommend any exhaust systems to go for and how much i may be spending? (manifold, de cat, centre pipe etc)

Thank you all so much, the only way i found this website is because the previous owner had TA stickers on each rear quater window, i picked them off because they were faded and old, any idea where i can buy a new set maybe ? :)

Hi Kyle, Try this for the rear deflectors on eBay 380473290594.

That looks lovely B) I see you've already done loads of mods only few days into ownership  need more pics though :p

Do you have any pics of the front, particuarly the yellow fogs? Am interested doing mine like that, add a bit of JDM look into this British built Rover car  but unsure on the looks from photoshopping a pic of my car.

Great looking car fella. With regard to lowering Eibach et al, are great and I can personally recommend Eibach.

My advice would be a set of coilovers though as you said you want shocks and springs.

Any questions don't hesitate to ask.

Tein and BC Racing both do kits u believe.
BC would be personal choice. Just remember if you do decide to order some, order them over the phone, not via a website, that way you'll be able to ensure that they send the kit that fits.

I do indeed, my freind has a blue ZR and we recently put yellow fogs on it, looks lush against the front lip and tow strap :p

Will have a look into these! thank you! Also why is the PCD on the accords so awkward? (4x114.3?!) Ive been looking all over for some nice alloys to match the coilovers/springs in the future and I cannot find any.. Unless theyre 19's for a R33 Skyline.. :(

The wheels are a pain to source for a 6th gen. When I had my 2.0 I spent about 2 months trying to find some.

If you search for my username in the photo bit there'll be some pics of my old car somewhere. The wheels I got were universal ones but there are wheels out the with the 4x114.3 fitment needed....they just take time to find lol

I've ordered some tints for mine now :p see how it looks, probably will look odd against the maroon colour of mine.
