Hi All,

I recently picked up a 2005 diesel with 100k miles. It had no service history and I dont know whether it was ever changed. I always ***umed that I might need to change the clutch and that is ok with me and now I have an opportunity to do that (I will be driving abroad where my brother has a garage and I could have it done for free, so would only need to buy the parts which are 600GBP??).

Currently I can drive no problem and there is no clutch slip or anything like that. But when releasing the clutch pedal the 'grip' is weak at first. When the clutch pedal is released half-way or a little over it, the grip is quite sudden. If I am not careful I can certainly feel that feeling when one shifts a gear and releases the clutch very quickly :D (don't know how to call it - sorry). Would you say that this is a sign of a failing clutch? Should I be changing the clutch or also the dual mass flywheel? Any recommendations to what clutch to get? I would be ordering it on ebay so any advice is welcome.

Thanks in advance.

I'm in the market for a new clutch too.
Like you I can get it fitted at mates rates, just trying to decide between a Honda/Luk clutch or the CG Motorsport one.

Does anyone know how much the CG Motorsport one is as supply only?

It would probably be best to change both clutch and flywheel, but whats the price on an original set?

I'm sure my clutch is smelling on my ctdi tourer i don't think its ever been done and its on 94k, other than the smell there are no problems.
Is it on its way out?

Mine has done 120k and slips if accelerating hard in 3rd, 4th and 5th from around 3000rpm so I know it needs changing.

Will probably change the clutch and flywheel at the same time as the clutch is only guaranteed if the flywheel is changed aswell.

Just wondering how much the CG Motorsports one is with the flywheel but as supply only.

Why you must change the cluch,if no slips.Personaly I recomended engine oil(0w/30 full sintetic)oem oil filter, oem fuel filter, gearbox oil, because maybe it's never been change. You can buy oem cluch from Holdcroft Honda(all members can get discount).Good luck with car;)

If its not slipping leave it that's my advice.

Wait till it slips and then get it changed mate. The old saying, if it ain't broke don't fix it

Great minds think alike Bro ;)

Thanks for the advice! I will refrain myself then from changing the clutch until it actually breaks then! will be doing a 3000 mile trip next month so I think I will need some luck :)

To be honest Ignas, when the clutch starts to slip, it doesn't go quickly so you could perhaps arrange another visit to your Brother's with clutch and DMF in hand ;) whenever it does show signs.

Why would you want to change a clutch that isn't slipping? sorry I don't understand the post..

Preventative maintenance Faddy. Just like my neighbour who got himself a whole new car because his other one needed 2 new tyres and a rear exhaust!
