Might go for a DTEC tourer , pls give me some pointers

Not sure I could deal with the lack of torque from a petrol :-p Its been 15yrs since I've run a petrol engine...forgot how they feel :-0 , All that messing about with spark plugs & ignition blah ! TBH the big offputting thing about the hi mile I-CDTI & DTEC is the mega expensive cost of timing...

Might go for a DTEC tourer , pls give me some pointers

Hi Faddy, 'if only' my Civic rode like an Accord, I'd stick with it. But man its a boneshaker :-( Have you heard of any instances of timing / oil pump chain failure? I'm eyeing up 130<>150k milers ex-fleet ones. And since the I-CDTI have they got better on clutches?

Might go for a DTEC tourer , pls give me some pointers

Hi all, 2yrs into my ownership of my Civic FK3 I'm tempted to consider offloading it and upgrading to an 8th gen tourer. I never liked the 7th gen tourer, but deffo could see myself in an 8th gen. My Civic has proved to be a good buy, in 2yrs its only had a few minor hiccups, but TBH although...

accord 04 hot starting problems solved (kinda)

SPUTNIK been gone a month now. Its hot starting issue was a duff no4 injector leaking off too much.

    '55 plate i-CDTI

+1 on Jon_G's comments, and also from experience of having the same issue which turned out to be a duff injector..

04 i-CTDi smoking A LOT, power seems normal though

Yep, fully agree. I would first get the injectors out and tested by a specialist. However each individual has their own logistics problems about having a car off the road, not to mention finding an injector specialist.

04 i-CTDi smoking A LOT, power seems normal though

I bought a set of used ones from ebay. I don't know how common the Honda I-CTDI engine is in Bulgaria so you may struggle to get hold of some domestically.

04 i-CTDi smoking A LOT, power seems normal though

The single biggest thing that fixed my smoking Accord to replace the injectors. I only wish I got round to doing it sooner. Put it this way, if my Civic starts smoking...it will be the first thing I look at..

    2.2 cdti 2004 cat removal

Isn't the concept of 'freeing flow' reserved more for normally aspirated engines? Unless the cat was damaged..I'd personally leave it be..

    Trouble starting

Have you physically ruled out excess injector leak-off? That's what was troubling mine. It only takes one injector to leak back too much and it won't allow the rail to build up the required pressure to function.

    ADvice please guys

Fair enough, each to their own I suppose. Its a long time since I've ever had the disposable income to be bothered about such stuff..

    ADvice please guys

Honestly I don't personally know all the ins and outs, but clearly there will be a lot of hacking under the bulkhead to marry up to the cat. But I don't know whether the pipe OD's differ and whether there could be other pressure balance issues. I don't understand what you hope to gain... more...

    ADvice please guys

Is this a wind up? You're wanting to fit a stainless system for a petrol on your diesel?? Good luck. BTW my diesel is still on its original exhaust at 268k.

    Quick update on SPUTNIK

OK right! SPUTNIK is good to go. Tonight I've sorted its handbrake issue. I've had the N/S rear caliper off and wound its piston in okay, plus the runners are free. Its handbake puller arm was a bit crusty but I got it free with a dab of light oil and a few taps with a hammer. The main prob...

    2004<>2006 I-CTDI EGR VALVE

Just to round up this post, I got a £75 quid used EGR off ebay and SPUTNIK is purring now , she starts up hot / cold within a fraction of a second. The probs is that's since she's been stood for 3months, a few niggles have also crept in. The A/C seemed a bit lame ( and I know it was fully fit...
