When you get the HFT to search for a phone you also need to get your phone searching for the HFT at the same time, I have found that it is not good enough to just make your phone "BLUETOOTH VISIBLE" you actively need to search on both HFT and phone simultaneously.

That's exactly the same one I got and from the same place - it's not OTT I believe it is a more sensible choice.

The fact that you have just had work done around the turbo must ring alarm bells! Check that the hose from the turbo is secured properly, it may have popped off after accidentally not being secured properly after the exhaust manifold was refitted.

I have HEL braided hoses but when one of the banjo joints are weeping you need to source some new copper washers, hence the previous post. B)

Don't know about the brake hoses - unless you decide to change for a set of braided hoses which are available on eBay - search HEL brake hoses. Anyway, from experience gained just this week... If you are changing or re-attaching brake hoses you will need new copper crush washers in order to...

My soldering skills are pants - but it was only two wires... beats paying £130 - you can get Nokia handsfree mics (without the handsfree kit) off eBay. I would say that it's worth a go - I got to the point that the HFT was all but useless so I thought what the hell if I break it well it wasn't...

Regarding any HFT problems where it cannot understand your commands, or speaks back in German or when you say the numbers it repeats "Star, Hash....!!!" It is a problem with the microphone - I replaced it with a nokia microphone from one of their handsfree kits.... see post... Replace HFT mic...

I think your back problems are related to something else - I have had back issues until recently when a change of job to a bit more physically demanding one has strengthened my back slightly and the issues have gone away. I am 6'2'' and just short of 24 stone so I am definitely on the plus side...

Not read the thread completely but the screeching is definitely the V grooved alternator belt it needs changing and quite frankly it should have been done when the screechi9ng noise first started - I don't believe it will be the alternator itself. Also if the battery is over 3 years old but...

It looks to me like an electrical connector... ;) I believe it is the connection to the headlamp level motor - Other members may be able to confirm this.

I have worked out from your figures that you achieved 48.5 mpg, I have reservations on how accurately you ***essed the distance compared with your £40 cost - the inaccuracies can account for a wide variation in mpg. However, if the distance was all motorway then I would have expected a bit more...

If the engine rotates then it's not seized - however, has the timing belt jumped (or snapped) have the pistons hit some of the valves? If it has then it is basically curtains.

How often did you check the oil level? When was the oil last changed? Bad news if it is seized - good luck.
