7th Gen new aux belt & Alternator DIY

OK - so got it sorted in the end - answer was a "long 14mm spanner with 'adjustable crank and ratchet'". Borrowed one from the local MOT centre who kindly lent me the tool free of charge. They use this tool especially for these tensioners (12mm at one end and 14mm - fits the Accord - at the...

7th Gen new aux belt & Alternator DIY

Great thread and thanks for all this info' I'm in the middle of an alternator change (just taken the old one off to exchange with Alternatorman) but I can't shift the tensioner bolt (which is what I'm going to need to do to fit the new alternator). I have a spanner that I can use to get a lot...

Removing rear window interior side trims on Gen 7 facelift

Took the trims out - they just pull out on the usual "trim clips" and no worries with the airbags. All connections to the window were OK so that's not the TMC issue. TMC doesn't work (anywhere within the radius of 150 miles that I have travelled) and I've spent the best part of a year trying...

    Oil question

Is 0-20 Castrol Edge OK to use in an i- CDTI does anyone know? (Just noticed that Cox sent me 0-20 instead of the 0-30 I ordered and that was on their invoice - bit late because I changed the oil and filter last weekend!)

Removing rear window interior side trims on Gen 7 facelift

Anybody know how to do this and if there might be any issues with the airbags? I've had a loss of TMC data for the best part of this year and I have now got to the point (having tried various other things) where I think it might be an arial connector issue with the rear window. Not sure how to...

    Loose seats.?/

Thread resurrection here - hope this is OK. Just noticed my driver's seat (2006 EX CTDI saloon with electric seats) moves about 1-2cm on the rear fixing on a sharp corner. I've had the car 4 years (trouble free so far apart from a pair of rear brake calipers) but only just noticed this noise...

    Sat nav diagnostic mode error

Thread resurrection here (apologies) but I have exactly the same f-can error and my TMC data on my sat nav has stopped working. Question is will this be a firmware fault, hardware fault or connectivity issue (diagnostic on "radio connection" is green/OK)

TMC. How do you get it to work?

Ever get a fix for this? My TMC used to work but has stopped since powering off the unit (to fit a reversing camera).

    EX Sat Nav issues

I seem to have lost "traffic info" (since power was disconnected from sat nav). Anyone know how to get this back? Also, how is the "hidden menu" accessed? Thanks!

    Reverse camera

Apologies for the thread resurrection - just bought one of these cameras for my 06 CDTi saloon but there are no fitting instructions with it. It's obvious how to fit the camera unit itself and how to wire in the feed for the "replacement index lights" but there is also a ground and live wire...

Thanks - I'll stick with the DOT4 then

    brake fluid

I'm about to do a full service on my gen 7 2.2 at the weekend and went to the local factors to buy various parts tonight. Chap behind the counter almost insisted I buy DOT 5.1 (as your car has ABS) but the handbook and cap on the master cylinder both say use DOT 3 or DOT 4 and no other types...

    Tyres

Thanks for the replies and especially the link. Comment from the link was: "Goodyear F1 Asymmetric 2 here too. Very hard to compare when you have worn tyres and put a new set. Of course they will seem better, while in the same tyre category. But for now they seem to have harder side walls than...

    Tyres

I will be needing a new set of tyres soon and I'm wondering whether to change brand. I'm running Pilot Sport 3s at the moment and the grip form these is great (I like corners!) but the tyre wear isn't so good. Car is a 2.2 diesel saloon and I'm getting 12,000 miles from the fronts and maybe...

    30k miles in my i-CTDi

Pretty much what I've found with mine too, which is another 2006 EX model. I've put 35k on it in two years (now at 90k on the clock). Commuting in fairly heavy traffic 150 miles a week sees me getting 53 mpg which is pretty good (although I have to stay off the brakes and "coast up to the...
