Will the 8th gen tourer swallow a standard size washing machine in its boot??

RUBBISH Fuel Consumption - 8th gen diesel auto tourer

I have an idtec auto estate and do a lot of long runs and over the last 45k miles I have averaged a steady 40-42mpg. I am no slouch though do not hammer it through the gears. I expected about 45mpg at a push but hey...... nothing is what it seems. I never rely on the trip computer, I always...

    Turbo trouble

Update - I just found a thread on here from 2011 (both Brett and F6had giving good advice amongst others) so I've got a little more insight. One query the forumite had that wasn't cleared up was if it were some carbon that flew backwards into the turbo, as the dpf is after the turbo, and broke a...

    Turbo trouble

So I had my solenoid valve replaced as per the diagnostic code and 5 days later I get the engine light on again and the car goes into limp mode so in again I went to Johnsons in MK. They did more diagnostics and told me they'd need to send it all off to Honda UK. I've got the results back and...

engine light and loss of power

It's the cumulative soot getting into those parts that can do damage before any light comes on. It can be cleaned (purged) but this doesn't always work.

engine light and loss of power

The EGT failed as it had been compromised and was mangled (nothing to do with soot). The valve I do not know, other than my local garage sells one a year. As I said, there are those that always point to the dpf BUT there is enough anecdotal evidence ........ No need to be defensive.

engine light and loss of power

Yes - they hook it up and have an answer within ten mins. Cost is anything from free to @ £80.

engine light and loss of power

I pressed reply by mistake! Whatever the problem is there will be those that say it was caused by the dpf and you must take it out. I'd think very carefully before doing that.

engine light and loss of power

Jack - the eml is a right pain as seemingly whenever it comes on it triggers a limp mode and you have to turn off the engine to get it out of limp mode. Even when the light is already on, the issue may trigger other issues which again cause the car to go in to limp mode. I doubt all eml...

    New owner with some questions

Welcome. This is a great forum to seek advice and also repay the favour sometime too. You are getting great mpg imho. My auto idtec estate never gets more than 520 a tank, so around 40/41 mpg. If you look at the Honest John real mpg website you'll see that is isn't bad. I can have a bit of...

    Turbo Boost P00AF

Evening all - i have a query about diagnostic code P00AF that comes up. It says it is to do with the turbo boost and my local indie garage have a Honda guy who says there is a recent bulletin about that and a software update is required, for a fee, but when i ask my local Honda dealer that have...

    smell when heater on

Thank you for your swift reply. I shall check the pollen filter, though I think this was done at its service.I ***ume it is got to from inside. Are the carbon ones after market? Mine is a diesel, yes, but I know nothing about the cracked manifold problem but the smells coming are definitely not...

    smell when heater on

Does anyone else notice that when they have the heater on the amount of external smells that come in is pretty high. Is there supposed to be some sort of filter somewhere for these or is it standard? I do not notice external smells so much in any other car. Be interested in your views. Thanks

Tyre change - from Nexen to Falken

My Nexen 8000's on the front finally gave out at @23k miles - not bad really for an £85 tyre. The rear ones are still good for a few months so they are now on the front but I spent bit more this time round on some Falken ZE914 tyres and these are now on the rear. The Nexens, whilst superb...

    auto trans fluid change

I recall I read somewhere that the oil on the auto box should be changed at a certain mileage to avoid expensive issues. I have just had a service at 72k or so and it had not come up on the VSR so i wondered if it should have done and if not, when is it generally good practice to do it? Thanks...

    Iphone 6 / iOS 8

Has anybody else noticed that with an iphone 6 (or maybe just general iOS 8 upgrade) that music can no longer be played through the phone? The radio read out srates' version unsupported'. Bluetooth connection to make calls is fine but podcasts and music is now seemingly not possible. Has anyone...
